One button for several settings
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”Use a preset when one press should change several controls at once: take the hat off, put the hoodie on and set a smile halfway. A preset is a button in the menu. Each press sets the controls it lists. The controls then stay where the preset put them until you change them. The preset has no on or off state of its own, and it costs no synced bits.
To wear one outfit out of several, see Make one-of-many choices. To change effects by themselves whenever a toggle changes, see Link effects to another toggle or a parameter.
This needs Advanced mode, the default.
-
In the Hierarchy, select the object that holds your AvatarDoc component.
-
In the inspector's toolbar, press + More, then + Preset. On a wide inspector, it sits on the toolbar itself.
You should now see a preset named New Preset, selected in the tree. It sits in the menu like a toggle.
-
In the preset's panel, type a name into Name, such as Hoodie look, and press Enter.
-
In the Sets section, press + Add.
You should now see a new row. Its button reads Pick a control until you pick a control, and a note asks you to pick one.
-
Press the row's button and pick a control.
The list shows every toggle, radial and group member of every AvatarDoc component on the avatar, by its place in the menu, such as Outfits/Hoodie. Presets are not in the list.
-
For a toggle, choose On or Off. For a radial, drag the slider: 0 is the radial's start and 1 its end.
-
Add a row in the same way for every other control the preset sets.
In the picture, 1 is the control of the first row, 2 its On and Off choice, 3 the slider of a radial row, 4 From preview, and 5 the + Add of Other parameters.
The × at the end of a row removes it.
Fill the list from the scene preview
Section titled “Fill the list from the scene preview”If you would rather set the look in the scene first, preview each control the way you want it, with the Scene preview row of its own panel. Then press From preview in the preset. It adds a row for every control that has a preview, at the value it previews, and updates the rows the preset already has.
Set a parameter of another tool
Section titled “Set a parameter of another tool”Other parameters sets a parameter that AvatarDoc does not own, such as one from Modular Avatar, or a VRCFury toggle with a global parameter. Press + Add under it, type the parameter's name or pick it with the arrow button, and type the value to set. A name that nothing on the avatar or its other tools knows gets a warning, and the preset still writes it.
Exclusive groups
Section titled “Exclusive groups”For an exclusive group, the member you set to On is the one that is worn. If every member you list is Off, the group is switched off. Set only one member of a group to On. With two, an error shows in the inspector and the upload stops, and Play mode goes on with only the first one in the list.
Check it worked
Section titled “Check it worked”- In the preset's panel, press On in the Scene preview row. The Scene view shows every row applied once. Off sets every listed control to off, and Default clears the previews of the listed controls.
- In Play mode with Gesture Manager, press the preset in the menu and watch the controls change. See Your first toggle for Play mode.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- A warning says the preset sets nothing yet: add a row to Sets or Other parameters. See the message.
- A warning says the preset refers to a control that no longer exists: a row reads (missing control), because its control was deleted. Press the button to pick another one, or remove the row. See the message.
- An error says the preset turns on two members of one group. The inspector shows it, and so do Play mode and the upload: Play mode applies only the first one, and the upload stops until you fix it. Set the other member to Off or remove its row. See the message.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Presets describes every setting of the panel.
- Make one-of-many choices explains exclusive groups.
