When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”Use a radial when you want more than on and off: a smile that grows as you turn the dial, or a glow that gets brighter. VRChat shows a radial as a dial in the menu.
If you only need on and off, a toggle is simpler and costs less memory: see Toggle clothing and accessories. To change a colour with a toggle, see Change a colour or glow.
-
In the Hierarchy, select the object that holds your AvatarDoc component.
-
In the inspector's toolbar, press + Radial.
You should now see a radial named New Radial, selected in the tree. Its panel has an empty Blendshapes section.
-
In the radial's panel, type a name into Name, such as Smile, and press Enter.
-
In the Blendshapes section, press + Add.
You should now see a list of your avatar's blend shapes, with a search field.
-
Type part of the shape's name and pick the shape.
You should now see a row with the shape, Min at 0 and Max at 100.
-
On the row, set Min to the weight you want at the lowest point of the dial, and Max to the weight at the highest point.
-
In the panel, drag the Default slider to where the dial should sit when the avatar loads. 0 is the lowest point and 1 the highest.
In the picture, 1 is the Default slider, 2 the Min and Max of the row, and 3 the Scene preview slider.
To drive several shapes from the same dial, add a row for each. They all move together.
To start from a face you already set up in the scene, press Capture in the Blendshapes section and pick the mesh. Every shape of that mesh higher than 0 becomes a row, with its scene weight as Max and 0 as Min.
Slide a material value
Section titled “Slide a material value”A radial can also move a shader value, such as an emission strength or a hue shift.
-
In the radial's panel, press + Add effect, then Properties.
You should now see a Properties section with an empty row.
-
On the row, drag the mesh from the Hierarchy onto the renderer field, or pick it with the small circle.
-
Press Pick property and pick the property from the list.
Max now holds the material's current value.
-
Set Min to the value at the lowest point of the dial and Max to the value at the highest point.
Change a colour or glow explains the property list in more detail.
Check it worked
Section titled “Check it worked”- In the radial's panel, drag the Scene preview slider (Advanced mode). The Scene view follows it. Press Default beside the slider to stop the preview. The preview needs NDMF's previews: turn them on under Tools > NDM Framework > Enable Previews.
- In Play mode with Gesture Manager, open the radial in the menu and turn the dial, as in Your first toggle.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- The shape does not move in the game: another animation on the avatar, such as a gesture or face tracking, also moves that shape and wins over the radial. Pick a shape nothing else moves.
- The parameter memory is full: a radial costs 8 synced bits, a toggle 1. The memory bar in the inspector's header shows how many are left.
- Turning the dial changes nothing: the row's Min and Max hold the same value.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Radial, Blend shape rows and Material properties describe every setting.
- Hold the rest of a face works on toggles and triggers, not on radials.
