When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”The window turns a handful of objects into a finished outfit menu: a submenu, the toggles or presets that switch the outfits, and the shrink shapes that pull the body in under clothes. Everything it makes is an ordinary entry that you can rename, change or delete afterwards. Nothing is built until you press Create outfit set.
- For a single piece of clothing, a toggle is enough.
- To change an outfit set later, edit its entries. The window does not open them again.
Press + Outfit set in the toolbar, or Start an outfit set on the card of an empty menu. The button is in both Simple and Advanced. The window opens at 380 pixels wide, and it keeps what you set until it closes.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”The settings in the order the window shows them. The window starts with a short note: Builds a submenu of outfits from pieces of your avatar. Everything it makes is ordinary and can be edited afterwards.
Set name
Section titled “Set name”Default: empty · Choices: any text
The name of the submenu. In One at a time it is also the name of the exclusive group. A name that is empty becomes Outfits. A group name that the avatar already uses gets a number added, such as Outfits 2, so a new set never joins an old one. The group name drops any style tags; the submenu keeps them.
Default: One at a time · Choices: One at a time, Mix freely
- One at a time builds one toggle for each outfit, all in one exclusive group, so only one outfit is on at a time.
- Mix freely builds one toggle for each piece and lets several pieces be worn together. It also builds one preset for each outfit, which switches that outfit's pieces on and every other piece of the set off, and a preset named Everything off.
Add a None option
Section titled “Add a None option”Shown in: One at a time only · Default: Off · Choices: On, Off
Adds a toggle named None to the group. It has no objects of its own, so choosing it leaves no outfit on. It is on by default only when the default outfit could not be built.
The pieces under Hidden while any outfit is on are shown again while None is chosen, because only an outfit hides them.
The outfit cards
Section titled “The outfit cards”Default: none · Choices: one card for each outfit
While the list is empty, the window shows Drop pieces from the Hierarchy here and + Add piece. Drag objects from the Hierarchy onto it, or pick them with + Add piece. Dropping one object makes one outfit named after it. Dropping several offers a choice of One outfit per object or One outfit with all of them. An object that is not part of this avatar is not accepted.
A card holds:
- The outfit's name, which is also the label of its toggle or preset.
- The Default chip. The first card is the default, the outfit that starts on. Click the chip of another card to make that one the default.
- A × that removes the card.
- One chip for each piece, with a × that removes the piece.
- A drop area and + Add piece for more pieces. A piece can be in several outfits.
- The shrink suggestions for its pieces, when there are any.
+ Outfit
Section titled “+ Outfit”Adds an empty card.
Shrink shapes found by name
Section titled “Shrink shapes found by name”For each piece, the window looks at the blend shapes of the avatar's other skinned meshes. Both names are reduced to lower case letters and digits, a leading shrink, hide, off, kisekae or cloth is taken off the shape's name, and a shape is suggested when one name contains the other. A name under three characters never matches, on either side.
Each suggestion is a tick box. A ticked suggestion becomes a blend shape row at the full weight 100 on the toggle that shows the piece. Tick only a shape that really belongs to the piece: the window cannot tell a real match from a name that looks alike. More than eight suggestions fold behind a Show all button that gives the number of suggestions.
Hidden while any outfit is on
Section titled “Hidden while any outfit is on”Shown in: One at a time only · Default: none · Choices: any object of the avatar
Objects that every outfit's toggle turns off, so they disappear once any outfit is worn. Use it for a base layer, such as underwear that every outfit covers. In Mix freely, the list is not shown, because there is no single state of "any outfit is on". What you listed is kept in the window if you switch back, but it is not built in Mix freely.
Capture icons
Section titled “Capture icons”Default: On · Choices: On, Off
On: every entry the window makes that has pieces to show gets an icon, the way Capture icons does. The icons are saved as pictures in your project. See Icon capture. The icons are made in a step of their own after the set, so one Undo does not take them away with the entries.
Create outfit set
Section titled “Create outfit set”Builds everything and closes the window. The inspector then selects the new submenu, and the entries are made in one Undo step. A component that is locked refuses, with the status line This component is locked. Unlock it to make changes. When no outfit has a piece and no None option is on, the window builds nothing and asks you to add at least one outfit with a piece. An outfit with no piece is skipped.
What AvatarDoc builds
Section titled “What AvatarDoc builds”In One at a time, the window makes one submenu and one toggle for each outfit that has a piece. Each toggle shows the outfit's pieces, hides the pieces of Hidden while any outfit is on, and holds the ticked shrink shapes. All the toggles share one exclusive group, which costs 8 synced bits.
In Mix freely, the window makes one submenu, one toggle for each piece, and the presets. A toggle is on by default when its piece belongs to the default outfit. The presets cost no synced bits.
Messages
Section titled “Messages”- The submenu has more controls than one page holds: for a set of more than eight entries.
- The submenu joins one of the same name.
