A Hoodie look preset: 1 Sets + Add, 2 a control, 3 On and Off, 4 a slider, 5 From preview, 6 Other parameters + Add, 7 a parameter, 8 Scene preview.12345678
  1. The + Add button of Sets.
  2. The button of a row, which names its control.
  3. The On and Off choice of a toggle's row.
  4. The slider of a radial's row.
  5. From preview.
  6. The + Add button of Other parameters.
  7. The name of a parameter in Other parameters.
  8. The Scene preview row.

The last row under Sets in the picture has no control yet: its button reads Pick a control.

A preset is one button in the menu that puts several other controls into a state in one press: put an outfit on, take the hat off and set a smile halfway, all together. Use it for a look, a mood or a "everything off".

  • To switch one thing, a toggle is enough.
  • To let only one of several outfits be on, use an exclusive group. A preset can still pick which member is on.
  • To build a whole outfit menu in one step, use Outfit sets, which makes presets for you in Mix freely mode.

To add a preset, press + Preset in the toolbar. It needs Advanced mode and sits under + More on a narrow inspector. A new preset reads New Preset and sets nothing yet.

The settings in the order the panel shows them.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: New Preset · Choices: any text

The text on the preset's button. It has the same style row as a toggle's name: see Style.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: none · Choices: any texture

The picture on the button, with Capture icon at its right end. The capture draws the pieces of the controls that the preset turns on, and of the radials it sets. See Icon capture.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: no rows · Choices: one row for each control

The controls the preset puts into a state when it is pressed. One row for each control.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced

Adds a row with no control yet. Its button reads Pick a control, and the row sets nothing until you pick a control.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: none · Choices: any toggle or radial of the avatar, whichever component holds it

The button names the control by its path in the menu, such as Outfits/Hoodie. Press it to pick another control from the list. The list does not offer presets: a preset cannot set another preset. When the control has been deleted since, the button reads (missing control) in amber, and you can still press it to point the row at another control.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: On · Choices: On, Off

Shown for a toggle and for a member of an exclusive group. Whether the control is switched on or off when the preset is pressed.

For a member of an exclusive group, the preset writes the group's value only for the member that is on. If you list members of a group and turn all of them off, the preset sets the group to none once. Turning two members of one group on in the same preset is an error: only the first one is applied, and the upload stops until you fix it. Two toggles that are not in a group but share one custom parameter behave the same way, because only one of them can be on.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: 1 · Range: 0 to 1

Shown in place of On and Off when the control is a radial. Where the radial is set when the preset is pressed.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced

The × at the end of a row removes the row.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced

Adds a row for every control that has a scene preview set right now, at the value it previews. A control that already has a row is updated, not added twice. Set the previews first, with the Scene preview row of each control or with the wheel in Test mode, then press it. See Scene preview.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: no rows · Choices: one row for each parameter

Sets a parameter that AvatarDoc does not own, such as one from VRCFury or Modular Avatar, to a value when the preset is pressed.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced

Adds a row with an empty name and the value 1.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: empty · Choices: any parameter name

The name of the parameter. Type it, or press the arrow button beside it to pick from the list of the avatar's parameters, its components' and VRChat's. A VRCFury toggle's global parameter works here too. A name that nothing on the avatar declares is written anyway, and a warning says so.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: 1 · Choices: a number

The value written to that parameter.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced

While both lists are empty, the panel says This preset sets nothing yet. and a warning says the same.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: Default · Choices: Default, On, Off

  • On sets the preview of every control in Sets to the state of its row, once. It does not stay held the way a toggle's On does. Rows in Other parameters are not part of the preview.
  • Off sets the preview of every control in the list to off, or to 0 for a radial.
  • Default clears the previews of the controls in the list and leaves every other preview as it is.

See Scene preview.

Which build makes the preset. See Platform on the toggle page.

A preset adds one button to the menu, one FX layer and one parameter. The parameter is a Bool that is never saved and never synced, so the preset costs no synced bits. The layer has an idle state and a state that runs when the button is pressed. In that state, a parameter driver sets every control and every parameter in the lists, and it runs on your own client. The controls it sets are synced as usual, so other players see the result. When the button is let go, the layer goes back to idle.

The Builds line of a preset with rows reads Builds: 1 menu control, 1 FX layer.
