Name and the Builds line sit at the top of the panel, as on a toggle.

A radial is a dial in the avatar's menu. As you turn it from 0 to 1, each of its rows moves from its Min to its Max: a smile that grows, a glow that gets brighter, a hue that shifts.

  • For a plain on and off, a toggle is simpler and costs 1 synced bit instead of 8.
  • A radial has no on and off, so it cannot show or hide objects, swap materials, follow, or hold the rest of a mesh. Use a toggle for those.

To add a radial, press + Radial in the toolbar.

The settings in the order the panel shows them.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: New Radial · Choices: any text

The text the menu shows for the dial. It has the same style row as a toggle's name: see Style.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: none · Choices: any texture

The picture VRChat shows on the dial's button, with Capture icon at its right end. It works as a toggle's icon does.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: 0 · Range: 0 to 1

Where the dial sits when the avatar loads. 0 is the lowest point of the dial and every row's Min, 1 the highest point and every row's Max.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced · Default: On · Choices: On, Off

Off removes the dial's button from the menu and frees its place there. The radial keeps its parameter and its effects, so a preset can still set it. The tree shows the row dimmed, with a no menu chip.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced, always · Default: no rows · Choices: blend shapes of this avatar's meshes

The blend shapes the dial moves. Each row has Min, the weight at the lowest point of the dial, and Max, the weight at the highest point. A new row starts at 0 and 100. All rows move together.

Capture picks a mesh and adds a row for every shape of it that is higher than 0 in the scene, with that weight as Max and 0 as Min. Blend shape rows and shape set rules describes the rows.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced, once it has a row · Default: no rows · Choices: a renderer and a shader property

The shader values the dial moves, such as an emission strength. Each row has Min and Max instead of a toggle's on value. Material properties describes the rows.

Shown in: Advanced; Simple once it has a row · Default: no rows · Choices: an animation clip, and a Path root

Your own animation clip. A radial with a clip plays that clip with the dial's value as its position, from its start at 0 to its end at 1, instead of blending its two ends. The Scene preview slider does not show custom animations.

Shown in: Simple and Advanced

Adds a section for another kind of effect. The list offers Blendshapes, Properties and Animations. In Simple mode, it offers Blendshapes and Properties only.

Shown in: Advanced · Default: Default · Range: 0 to 1

The slider shows the dial at any point in the Scene view, without changing anything in the build. While no preview is set, it sits at Default. The Default button beside it stops the preview.

Shown in: Advanced, and Simple once a setting inside is not at its default · Default: closed · Choices: open, closed

The fold at the bottom of the panel holds the same settings as a toggle's, except Blend time and the custom Value. In Simple mode, the fold appears once any setting inside is not at its default, and then it shows every row. The settings are:

  • Platform: which build makes the radial.
  • Saved: remembers the dial between avatar loads.
  • Synced: lets other players see the dial. A radial's parameter is a number, so the note beside it reads +8 bits.
  • Parameter and Custom name. A custom name for a radial must be a Float parameter. One with no effects of its own only drives that parameter.

At upload, a radial adds one dial to the menu, one Float parameter (8 synced bits while Synced is on) and one layer to the avatar's FX animator. The layer blends every row from its Min to its Max as the parameter moves from 0 to 1. A radial with a custom animation plays that clip by the parameter instead.
